It has been brewing for a long time, but at the beginning of February 2002 some "die hards" decided to set up Nieuw & Diep. The goal: to bring the JAZZ back to Den Helder. Until the early 1990s, the "Nat en Diep" foundation was active here with programming jazz and improvised music. On April 24, 2002, the new jazz foundation was officially launched under the name ... "Nieuw & Diep".
