The City Park forms a green connection from the station to the dike. The Julianaplein and the area between the Bethel Church and the St. Peter and St. Paul Church have already been developed as a park. The former fish shop has also been purchased and is temporarily in use as an art gallery, providing a platform for young artists.
Now that 'De Admiraal' (the final phase of Halter Bellevue) is in full construction, space is opening up for the completion of the park. This year, the urban design is being updated and developed into a feasible plan, with attention to climate adaptation (such as heat stress and water retention) and parking.
Zeestad organized an initial meeting on Wednesday, October 8. It showed that residents are strongly involved with the Stadspark and view the park as an indispensable part of the city center. There is much appreciation for the green character, but also a need for improvements in maintenance, accessibility, experience, safety, and facilities. In addition to the user experiences and wishes of residents and entrepreneurs, we are also mapping out the professional requirements and wishes.
