The European Maritime Day (EMD) takes place annually in Europe. The EMD is a two-day event (of politicians, policymakers, private and public stakeholders from all over Europe) on everything related to the seas and oceans. Den Helder will host the event in 2021. Due to COVID-19, the event will take place in an adapted format.
The EMD2021 will be held on May 20 and 21. Due to the measures concerning COVID-19, it was decided in October that the conference will be given a hybrid character. This means that no more than the maximum allowed number of visitors is allowed. It is expected that this will be between 150 and 200 participants. In addition, the program will be offered online for the other participants in Europe, where around 800 participants are expected.
The conference theme is "A green recovery for the blue economy" and will take place in the Theater Kampanje on Willemsoord.
