Curious about what the inside of a bunker looks like? You can visit them during Bunker Day!
On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the bunkers of the Atlantic Wall will be open to the public, allowing you to see where soldiers lived during the war. Normally, these fascinating concrete behemoths are closed, but on Bunker Day, they open to the public for one day each year!
Between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, you can visit the bunkers and learn about the story of the German occupation through guided tours, walks, and short lectures. In Den Helder, visit the magnificent FL 250 Flakkengruppen Command Post, better known as the 'Crown Bunker' due to the shape of the tower. Continue your route to the 638 Sani 'Hospital Bunker', where a small collection of medical tools is on display. Also, near Den Helder, visit the Gun Bunker M219 in Julianadorp. Tickets cost €7.50 for adults, €4 for children aged 4 to 12, and free for children aged 0 to 3. With this entrance ticket, all participating locations are accessible.
